In 2020, FLG established a partnership with Equinox Environmental to provide regularly scheduled water testing services as part of an ongoing water quality program for the lake.

Now that partnership is taking another step towards FLG’s mission of ensuring the continued protection and preservation of the lake through the establishment of a Comprehensive Watershed Management Plan. Visionary in its design, this plan will provide a roadmap moving forward, guiding FLG toward a future where our work is proactive rather than reactive.

Though the past two years have proved challenging in myriad ways for everyone, we were fortunate enough this year to be able to continue some of our programs without interruption, resume others we had to skip last year, and lay the groundwork for some exciting new opportunities! Saturday, July 3rd, 2021 marked FLG's 24th annual Fireworks Over Lake Glenville, and it couldn't have been a bigger success. The weather cooperated and the crowds on both land and the water thrilled at being part of this on-going tradition.

What a great day we had on the water during our annual FLG Lake Clean Up on Saturday, June 5, 2021! With the support of Signal Ridge, Mountain View, and Lake Shore Marinas, and more than 75 community volunteers, we were able to remove a huge array of flotsam, jetsam, and other trash, including: 48 Dock Floats, Plastic and Teak Chairs, Fences, Water Toys (tubes and noodles), Solo Cups, Floating Logs and Sticks amongst other various items.

Friends of Lake Glenville is proud to announce the 2021 Doug Odell Scholarship winners! The $1000 scholarship, established to encourage and support our local community, is awarded to a graduating senior in good standing from Blue Ridge Early College (BREC) to promote higher education in the field of Science.

FLG to Partner with Equinox Environmental for Ongoing Water Quality Program as of October 1, 2020

This year has had its challenges for all of us, including Friends of Lake Glenville and our ongoing Water Quality Program.

Earlier this year, Western Carolina University informed us that, due to the impact of Covid-19 on staffing and resources, they would not be renewing our agreement to provide water testing, analysis, and reporting services. We would like to thank Dr. Kimberly Hall and WCU for the excellent work they've done over the past three years.

The Board of Directors of Friends of Lake Glenville proudly announces that we have been awarded a $5000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation to support and continue our work with water testing.

FLG held its Annual Member Meeting on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 10:00am. It was the first-ever virtual meeting for our organization and we're thrilled to be able to share it with you here.
