Friends of Lake Glenville is proud to announce the 2021 Doug Odell Scholarship winners! The $1000 scholarship, established to encourage and support our local community, is awarded to a graduating senior in good standing from Blue Ridge Early College (BREC) to promote higher education in the field of Science.

Realtor Rick Jackson (Silver Creek Realty, Glenville Office) and his wife Lisa generously provided the initial funding for the Scholarship Program. A matching donation allowed FLG to award this year’s scholarship to two recipients instead of just one!

2021 marks the inaugural year of the Doug Odell Scholarship, named in honor of one of FLG’s founding members. Doug dedicated many years to FLG. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors, he was instrumental in establishing the water testing program and worked tirelessly with Duke Energy and governmental agencies for the benefit of the lake.

Friends of Lake Glenville is an incorporated not-for-profit organization. Our volunteer board and dedicated membership donate their time, talents, and energy to helping us realize our mission to preserve, protect, and educate. Our work focuses on Water Quality and Testing, Lake Clean-Up, Fishing, and Boating Safety.

Congratulations to our 2021 Scholarship Winners!
