Friends of Lake Glenville established the Doug Odell Scholarship Program to encourage and support our local community by offering an educational scholarship to graduating high school seniors. One scholarship per school year will be awarded to a graduating senior in good standing from Blue Ridge Early College (BREC) and Summit Charter School to promote higher education in the fields of Science, Education, or a relevant trade or vocation.

Eligibility
- Graduating High School Senior in Good Standing from Blue Ridge Early College (BREC) or Summit Charter HS.
- Full Time Resident of our Local Community.
Selection Criteria
- Timely submission of completed Application Documents and two (2) Recommendations.
- Preference given to candidates planning on advanced study in Science, Education, or Trade School.
- Preference given to candidates that show Leadership skills and/or a passion for Volunteerism.
Application Process
To apply for the Doug Odell Scholarship, you must do all of the following:
- Complete the online application below.
- Complete two (2) essays: one on your choice of two topics and one personal essay.
- Upload a copy of your acceptance letter from your intended College, University, Community College, Technical, or Vocational School. If you cannot provide this letter, please explain why.
- Submit 2 references. See more information in the References section below.

In addition to the application, you must have two (2) references that can support why you are a good candidate to complete and submit the recommendation:
- Current Teacher, Counselor, and/or High School Principal (Current HS Students); Current Professor or College Counselor (Previous Winners)
- Personal or Work Reference (non-family member)

What Happens Next?
Once you've submitted your application and all supporting materials have been received, you will be required to attend an in-person or virtual interview with the FLG Scholarship Committee members.
If you are awarded a scholarship, you will be required to speak with the FLG Scholarship Committee and/or Board members within 6 months of receipt to provide an update on how the scholarship has assisted you in your education and/or future career.
