Friends of Lake Glenville is committed to helping preserve and protect the beautiful natural resource in our backyards. Below is some general information related to Lake Glenville, including water levels, shoreline dos and don'ts, dam releases, beach access, watershed management, and more.

For Property Owners
As property owners, there are simple steps that we can take to protect Lake Glenville and the wildlife and plants within and around the lake.

Water Levels
Lake levels for Lake Glenville are lowered in the fall/winter months for a couple of reasons.

Shoreline Dos & Don'ts
Duke Energy owns the property inside what is known as the 3110 line or “project boundary”. The 3110 line distance from the shoreline will vary depending on the slope of the property.

Dam Water Releases
The Federal Energy Regulation Commission (FERC)’s license to Duke to generate hydroelectric power from Lake Glenville requires a recreation water release from the Glenville Dam on the following timing and flows:

Beach Access
The Lake Glenville Pine Creek Access area features a swimming beach, picnic area, and fishing pier. Currently open only through the summer season starting May 23, 2025, it's located across the road from the access trail to the Cullowhee High Falls.
