Current Friends of Lake Glenville members came together on everyone’s favorite porch on Saturday, June 24thfor the annual Member Meeting at Cornucopia Restaurant.

FLG ChuckEdwards 2023NC Congressman Chuck Edwards at FLG's 2023 Annual MeetingIn addition to a delicious breakfast, members were treated to a presentation by special guest, NC Congressman Chuck Edwards. The congressman spoke to our constituency about his background and his goals for his time in Congress, followed by a brief question and answer session.

Following the congressman’s presentation, FLG President Ray Jimison delivered an overview of the organization’s work to-date and the what’s left on the agenda for the rest of 2023. Chief among the items on FLG’s to-do list was electing new board members to replace the officers whose terms expire this year, including President Ray Jimison, Vice-President Marianne Smith, Treasurer Martha Lutz, Duke Liaison Bryan Phegley, and Director David Bryson.

The nominating committee put forth five nominees, all of whom were elected to serve 3-year terms. Tom Albert, Louise Geddes, Michael Novak, Jim Recktenwald, and Chris Warren will join current Board members David Feist, Lesley Howard, Rick Jackson, and Secretary Karen Odell. Jim Recktenwald will server as Treasurer, while the Board will convene within the month to select a President and Vice-President from the group.

The meeting concluded after an impassioned call for volunteers to join any of the committees and special interest groups FLG maintains and a sincere thank you from outgoing President Ray Jimison to his fellow Board members and the FLG membership at large.
