Duke Energy has scheduled a Tuckasegee River Bypass release below Lake Glenville for Saturday and Sunday, April 29 & 30, 2023.

A spillway gate will be partially opened by 10 a.m. and will remain open until 4 p.m. or later. Duke Energy may make unscheduled gate releases without any prior warning or notice if warranted by significant rainfall. Parking at the takeout must not block access to Duke Energy's Thorpe Powerhouse substation (overflow parking is available in the field just north of the Tuckasegee Lake Access Area).

WARNING: high flows and the natural environment of the bypassed reach can create dangerous conditions. The bypass is six miles long, narrow and challenging, and is recommended for advanced paddlers only. Fishermen should be alert to rapidly changing flow and dangerous conditions. For information on current lake levels and conditions, please visit duke-energy.com/lakes, call 800.829.5253, or the Duke Energy Lake View mobile app.
