Friends of Lake Glenville, a 501(c)3 organization based in Glenville, NC, is proud to announce the 2022 Doug Odell Scholarship winners!

Established in 2021 to encourage and support our local community, the scholarship was originally intended to award $1000 to one graduating area senior in good standing from Blue Ridge Early College (BREC) to promote higher education in the field of Science.

Though only in its second year the Scholarship Fund grew significantly in 2022! Thanks to overwhelming support from both FLG members and the wider community at large, FLG was able to expand its giving to Summit Charter School and award three (3) recipients with scholarships in the amount of $5000 each.

The Doug Odell Scholarship is named in honor of one of FLG’s founding members. Doug dedicated many years to FLG. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors, he was instrumental in establishing the water testing program and worked tirelessly with Duke Energy and governmental agencies for the benefit of the lake.

Friends of Lake Glenville is an incorporated not-for-profit organization. Our volunteer board and dedicated membership donate their time, talents, and energy to helping us realize our mission to preserve, protect, and educate. Our work focuses on Water Quality and Testing, Lake Clean-Up, Fishing, and Boating Safety.
