Friends of Lake Glenville held our annual Lake Clean-Up this past Saturday, June 22nd. We had a record attendance of 15 boats and over 75 participants. Debris drop-off was at the Pine Creek Access Area and was an exciting area for observers.

Brian Simon, Owner and Operator of Glenville Saw Mill, donated his time and enormous crane to help with the removal. Brian lifted 37 floats, 3 big oil barrels, 2 large abandoned docks, floating trees and limbs, stumps, and dock lumber. Volunteers were able to gather inflatable floats, plastic adirondack chairs, various styrofoam pieces, bbq grill parts and even a round umbrella base stand. Several bags were filled with various plastics, beers cans, snuff tobacco containers, tennis balls, and flip flops that were intermingled in the rocks at the dam.

A complementary lunch was served at The Glenville Lake Club Lakeside Pavilion for volunteers. Everyone enjoyed a wonderful lunch from the Farmers Market that included pulled pork, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad, chips, brownies and the best homemade cookies ever, made by Sandy Ikehorn. Denny Smith directed parking and Rich Becherer directed boat tie-up at the dock. David Beeker, Store Manager of Ingles, donated several cases of water and powerade along with ice, potato chips and brownie mixes.

Everyone enjoyed lunch at the Lake side Pavilion and exchanged stories. Fortunately, the rain held off until everyone was finished with their lunch.
