Re: Appointment of an FLG Board Nominating Committee
Dear FLG Members,
As some of you may know, my 3-Year term as President of FLG comes to an end at next year’s Annual Meeting, held each year in early August. In addition, Lynn Leach is retiring from the Social Committee, where she has served as Social Director or committee member for several years.
I am appointing a Nominating Committee under Section 11 of the By-Laws. The committee's task will be to solicit Board of Director nominees from the current membership.
The Nominating Committee consists of the current President, two past Presidents (Carolyn Franz and Carol Adams), two current board members in Marianne Smith, our current Vice President, and Ray Jimison, our current Treasurer.
We need to seat a final member at large who is active in the Organization but is not on the Board.
The slate of nominees suggested by the Nominating Committee shall be announced via email and on the web site to the membership at large as soon as possible but prior to the next Annual Meeting .
After the Nominating Committee has announced the slate to the membership, any member may place a nomination from the floor at the Annual Meeting. Any member who proposes such a nomination must notify the President and Nominating Committee in writing at least two (2) weeks prior to the Annual Meeting.
Members who receive this email or read the same content on the web site and who are interested in either the President or Social Director positions should contact any member of the Nominating Committee to express their interest as soon as possible. The inability to fill either of these positions by the Annual Meeting next year will necessitate substantial changes in our governance structure going forward.
