GCDC LogoFriends of Lake Glenville is honored to have received a grant from the Glenville Community Development Club. The grant, in the amount of $1000, has been awarded in support of FLG’s Water Quality Program and will help fund our water testing program in 2023.

About the GCDC

The Glenville Community Development Club, a 501(c)3 organization based in Glenville, NC, provides outreach and scholarships to the local community. Funds are generated through sales made at the Glenville Thrift Shop, then returned in the form of grants to organizations that promote and invest in the Glenville community.

In 2020, GCDC received the Calico Cat award as part of the WNC Honors, which is given to an organization or community for their work in improving their existing community centers.

Our Water Quality Program

Friends of Lake Glenville’s Water Quality program is one of our organization’s key and most important elements of our mission. FLG partners with Equinox Environmental to test and monitor the following:

  1. Stream or in-flow water testing
  2. Lake water testing
  3. Lake sedimentation measurement

A fourth part, fishing improvement, is currently under review for improvements.

Watershed Management

In 2022, FLG also partnered with Equinox to develop the Lake Glenville Watershed Management Plan. Visionary in its design, this plan furthers our mission to protect and preserve the lake while also providing a roadmap for moving forward, guiding FLG and the Glenville community toward a future where our work is proactive rather than reactive. Visit FLGWatershedPlan.com to see the entire Watershed Management Plan.

The Board of Directors and members of Friends of Lake Glenville sincerely thank the Glenville Community Development Club for their support and interest in helping us Preserve and Protect Lake Glenville.
