Lots of July activities for FLG members and lake and town residents

Monday, June 27th, 2011

On Saturday July 2nd 2011, about 9pm or so when it is dark, the now annual Lake Glenville fireworks will be shot from The Pointe at Lake Glenville.  The fireworks this year will again be professionally done by East Coast Pyrotechnics and are expected to be enhanced over last years due to more support from local sponsors, including the Friends of Lake Glenville.  Viewing from the lake on a boat or on the 107 shoreline should again be great fun!

On Saturday July 16th, the FLG Grand Summer Social will again be held at the Lake Club clubhouse, from 5:00-7:00pm.  The event is open to all 2011 FLG members.  If you have forgotten to renew your membership, there is still time to do so and enjoy what has recently been the high point of the FLG social season.

A new event for the FLG will be “Groovin’ on the Green with the Friends of Lake Glenville” Friday evening July 22nd 2011.  This will be our opportunity to showcase the FLG and make sure the larger Cashiers-Glenville community knows about us and our efforts to “Protect and Preserve” Lake Glenville.  Entertainment will be by Hurricane Creek Band, a local favorite.  A big turnout by FLG members will mean lots of knowledgeable people to tell the audience about our great organization.

Please also note that the Annual Meeting will be later than usual this year, on Saturday August 20th 2011, hosted by Trillium Links and Lake Club.  The speaker will be announced at a later time.

June FLG Member Breakfast June 11 at High Hampton Inn

Friday, June 10th, 2011

The next Friends of Lake Glenville Member Breakfast will be on Saturday June 11, 2011, at 8:30am at the High Hampton Inn on NC 107 just south of The Crossroads.  The charge for breakfast and the facilities is again $15 per person.

Our guests and speakers this time are the relicensing team from Duke Energy.  They include Steve Johnson from Charlotte, Fred Alexander from Franklin, and Lisa Leatherman, our lake manager.  Their presentation will include a PowerPoint on relicensing and hopefully the draft diagrams of the proposed Lake Glenville swim beach and fishing platforms.

As before, please RSVP preferably by replying to flg@friendsoflakeglenville or alternatively by calling Ed Mohler at 743-3796.  See you at the breakfast or on the lake.
